Assessment: event One

In February, players will have the opportunity to attend a Rookie Me testing event. The tests are specific to the AFL combine. The event is conducted during the off-season to assess the athletic ability of all footballers.

Coaches are cordially invited to observe and experience AFL combine testing firsthand.

Pre-season

Personalised training program

After the initial testing event (pre-season assessment), the individual test results will be used to customise a personalised running program for each player to adhere, to for the remainder of the pre-season.

Re-assessment: event two

In the lead-up to the 2024 season, players will participate in a second Rookie Me testing combine event. This assessment will evaluate their athletic development and growth; providing in-depth insights into their physical objectives.

In line with the AFL's coaching feedback fundamentals and learning framework, coaches will receive training on how to analyse player performance results and use player/team/club-based insights to enhance training sessions and game day performance.
